Best Digital Picture Frames (2026): Six Gift-Ready Picks Compared, From $60 to $299

A digital picture frame is the rare tech gift that works for almost anyone, from grandparents who never open the family group chat to new parents drowning in baby photos. You plug it in, connect it to Wi-Fi, and the people you invite can send photos to it from their phones, wherever they live. With the holidays coming, it is also one of the easiest gifts to make personal.

We compared six frames that are selling well on Amazon right now, from a $60 Frameo frame with 32GB of storage to Aura’s $299 Walden, a 15-inch frame made to hang on a wall. Specs come from manufacturer pages and current Amazon listings, along with reviews from Wirecutter, PCMag, and The Strategist. Prices move almost daily, so treat them as mid-October 2026 snapshots. On Amazon’s Digital Picture Frames Best Sellers list when we checked, the Aura Carver was No. 3 (behind two Amazon Echo Show smart displays), the 10.1-inch Frameo No. 4, the 15.6-inch Frameo No. 6, and Skylight’s 10-inch frame No. 7.

Aura, Skylight, or Frameo: how digital frames differ

Aura frames (the Carver, Aspen, and Walden) store your photos in Aura’s cloud, with no storage limit and no subscription. You and anyone you invite add photos and videos with the free Aura app, by email or text, or from iCloud and Google Photos. You control the frame from the app and a touch bar on top, so there are no fingerprints on the screen. The catch: an Aura frame needs Wi-Fi to work.

Skylight gives every frame its own email address, so anyone can send it a photo with no app at all, and the touchscreen makes setup easy. The Frame 2 keeps photos on 16GB of built-in storage, so it keeps showing them if the Wi-Fi drops. Some extras cost money, though: Skylight says video and captions on the Frame 2 need a Skylight Plus subscription.

Frameo frames are made by dozens of different brands and all run the free Frameo app. The two here have touchscreens, lots of built-in storage, and memory-card slots, so they can also show photos without Wi-Fi, and they cost far less. The free app lets you send 10 photos at a time and videos up to 15 seconds; Frameo+ ($16.99 a year) raises that to 100 photos and 2-minute videos and adds cloud backup.

Shape matters, too. Most phones shoot 4:3 photos. A 4:3 screen, like the Aspen’s or Walden’s, shows them with little cropping, while wider 16:10 and 16:9 screens trim them or add black bars. The Carver gets around this by showing two vertical photos side by side.

How we chose

Sales and ratings came first. Every pick holds 4.5 stars or better on Amazon, and the Carver, both Frameo frames, and Skylight’s 10-inch frame line are all in the top 10 of Amazon’s digital picture frame best sellers. Aura and Skylight share ratings across their frame lines (more than 14,000 and 27,000 ratings), and the two Frameo frames have about 1,900 and 2,700.

Then picture quality and ease of use. We favored frames that reviewers say are easy to set up for a less tech-savvy relative, with sharp, bright screens and simple ways for family to add photos.

And a range of sizes and budgets. The list runs from 10-inch tabletop frames to 15-inch wall frames, and from about $60 to $299.

Quick pick guide

Best overall: Aura Carver 10-Inch Digital Frame: Wirecutter’s top pick, with a sharp 10.1-inch screen, side-by-side portrait pairing, and unlimited free cloud storage, for about $149.

Best bigger tabletop frame: Aura Aspen 12-Inch Digital Frame: a 12-inch, 1600 × 1200 anti-glare screen in the 4:3 shape of phone photos, and the top pick at PCMag and The Strategist, for about $229.

Best for a wall: Aura Walden 15-Inch Digital Frame: Aura’s largest frame, a 15-inch screen with a wall-mounting kit and a stand, for about $299.

Best touchscreen frame: Skylight Frame 2 (10-Inch): a 1920 × 1200 touchscreen, 16GB of storage, offline mode, and swappable Snap Frames, for about $190.

Best budget frame: Frameo 10.1-Inch 32GB Digital Frame: a 10.1-inch touchscreen with 32GB of storage and a microSD slot, for about $60.

Best big screen for less: Frameo 15.6-Inch 64GB Digital Frame: a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen with 64GB of storage, SD and USB slots, for about $100.

Aura Carver: best digital picture frame overall

Aura Carver 10-inch digital photo frame in black on a gift box, showing a wedding photo
Aura Carver 10-Inch Digital Frame: Aura’s best-selling frame, shown here in black.

The Aura Carver 10-Inch Digital Frame is the frame we would give most people. Wirecutter calls it the best frame it has used, praising the easy setup, the sharp, vivid screen, and the stylish design. Per Aura’s spec sheet, it has a 10.1-inch, 1280 × 800 display in a landscape frame that measures 10.5 by 7.3 by 2.1 inches and weighs 1.61 pounds. A built-in speaker plays videos up to 30 seconds long, and it also shows iPhone Live Photos.

The clever part is portrait pairing: the Carver places two vertical photos side by side, so tall phone shots fill the wide screen instead of sitting between black bars. A light sensor adjusts the brightness and turns the frame off at night, and a touch bar on top lets you skip or favorite a photo. Aura’s storage is free and unlimited, and you can scan a code on the box to preload photos before you wrap it.

Amazon lists the Carver at $149.00. It was No. 3 in digital picture frames when we checked, with more than 3,000 bought in the past month, and Aura’s frames hold 4.7 stars across more than 14,000 ratings. Trade-offs: it only works on Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), it has no memory-card slot, and it sits only in landscape. Want a white border like a classic photo mat? Aura also sells a Carver Mat version for $179.

Wirecutter’s top pick: a 10.1-inch screen, side-by-side portrait pairing, and free unlimited storage, for about $149.

Aura Aspen: best bigger tabletop frame

Aura Aspen 12-Inch Digital Frame: a 12-inch frame with a paper-textured mat that works upright or sideways.

The Aura Aspen 12-Inch Digital Frame is the step-up pick, and the top choice at PCMag and The Strategist. PCMag praises its colorful, accurate screen and slim design. Per Aura, the 12-inch, 1600 × 1200 anti-glare display has the same 4:3 shape as phone photos, so pictures need less cropping. A paper-textured mat makes it look like a framed print. It stands in portrait or landscape on a built-in stand that also hides the cord.

The frame measures 12.7 by 10.1 by 1.1 inches and weighs 2.1 pounds. Unlike the Carver, it works with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. You get the same free, unlimited cloud storage, app, touch bar, speaker, and automatic on/off as the rest of the Aura line.

Amazon lists the Aspen at $229.00, with more than 1,000 bought in the past month. Trade-offs: it is made for a table or shelf, not a wall, and like every Aura it needs Wi-Fi. Wirecutter also suggests picking one orientation for your photos, since landscape shots shown in portrait (or the reverse) get black bars.

A 12-inch, 1600 × 1200 anti-glare screen in the 4:3 shape of phone photos, for about $229.

Aura Walden: best frame for a wall

Man hanging an Aura Walden 15-inch digital photo frame on a wall
Aura Walden 15-Inch Digital Frame: Aura’s largest HD frame comes with a wall-mounting kit.

The Aura Walden 15-Inch Digital Frame is the one to hang. Per Aura, it has a 15-inch, 1600 × 1200 anti-glare display in the same 4:3 shape, a frame that measures 15.7 by 12.7 by 1.2 inches, and a weight of 3.64 pounds. It comes with both a tabletop stand and a wall-mounting kit, and it works in portrait or landscape.

Wirecutter, which names it the best frame for hanging, says the photos look sharp even from a foot away. It also liked the solid build and the textured, floating white mat. Like the Aspen, it works with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and comes with Aura’s free, unlimited storage.

Amazon lists the Walden at $299.00, with more than 1,000 bought in the past month. Trade-offs: it needs an outlet within reach of its 9.6-foot cord (per Wirecutter), so a cord will hang down the wall unless you hide it. It is also big, so check that the recipient has room for it.

Skylight Frame 2: best touchscreen frame

Skylight Frame 2 (10-Inch): photos can arrive by app or by email.

The Skylight Frame 2 (10-Inch) is the newer version of one of Amazon’s best-selling frames, and the easiest to use for anyone who prefers to tap a screen. Per Skylight, it has a 10-inch, 1920 × 1200 touchscreen (the sharpest here), auto-brightness, an anti-glare coating, 16GB of storage, and a 2 GHz quad-core processor. Each frame gets its own email address, so relatives can send photos without downloading an app.

Gift Mode lets you preload photos before you wrap it, and Offline Mode keeps the slideshow going without Wi-Fi (you need Wi-Fi to receive new photos). Magnetic Snap Frames swap the frame’s look in seconds. PCMag, which added it to its picks in October, says the Frame 2 improves on the original with twice the storage and a sharper screen.

Amazon lists the black Frame 2 at $189.99. Skylight’s frame listing holds 4.7 stars across more than 27,000 ratings. Trade-offs: Skylight says playing videos and adding captions on the Frame 2 need a Skylight Plus subscription. Wirecutter found the original Skylight showed tall portraits with wide black bars, and the Frame 2 keeps the same wide 16:10 shape.

Frameo 10.1-inch: best budget digital frame

Black 10.1-inch Frameo digital photo frame with a phone showing the Frameo app
Frameo 10.1-Inch 32GB Digital Frame: a touchscreen frame that runs the free Frameo app.

The Frameo 10.1-Inch 32GB Digital Frame (made by MaxAngel, model M-102K) gets you most of what matters for about $60. It was No. 4 in digital picture frames when we checked, with more than 7,000 bought in the past month and 4.6 stars across more than 2,600 ratings. Per the Amazon listing, it has a 10.1-inch, 1280 × 800 IPS touchscreen, 32GB of built-in storage (the maker says that is more than 80,000 photos), and a microSD slot for loading photos and longer videos without Wi-Fi.

Family members send photos and 15-second videos through the free Frameo app, and only people you invite can send to the frame. It rotates photos to fit the frame’s position, can show collages, a calendar, and the weather, and comes with a one-year warranty. Amazon lists it at $59.99 (list price $69.99).

Trade-offs: the plastic frame looks more like a tablet than a picture frame, the 1280 × 800 screen is the lowest resolution here (tied with the Carver), and some extras, such as sending 100 photos at once or managing the frame’s photos from your phone, need a Frameo+ subscription. As a cheap, easy gift for grandparents, it is hard to beat.

A 10.1-inch touchscreen, 32GB of storage, and a microSD slot, with more than 7,000 bought last month, for about $60.

Frameo 15.6-inch: best big screen for the money

Black 15.6-inch Frameo digital photo frame with 64GB of storage and a phone sending a photo
Frameo 15.6-Inch 64GB Digital Frame: a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen with 64GB of storage.

The Frameo 15.6-Inch 64GB Digital Frame (made by BIGASUO, model 159K) gives you a screen as big as the Walden’s for about a third of the price. Per the Amazon listing, it has a 15.6-inch, 1920 × 1080 IPS touchscreen, 64GB of built-in storage (about 100,000 photos), SD card and USB slots, and a built-in speaker. It auto-rotates photos, can hang on a wall or stand on a table, and weighs about 3.2 pounds.

It was No. 6 in digital picture frames when we checked, with more than 3,000 bought in the past month and 4.5 stars across more than 1,900 ratings. Amazon lists it at $99.97 (list price $129.99). Like the smaller Frameo, it sends photos and 15-second videos through the free Frameo app.

Trade-offs: it only connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the wide 16:9 screen crops or pillarboxes many phone photos, and the maker warns that the USB-C power plug should go in and out straight to avoid damaging the port. For a big, affordable family-room frame, it is a strong value.

Tips for giving a digital frame

Preload it. Aura lets you scan a code on the box and add photos before the frame is even opened, and Skylight’s Gift Mode does the same. With a Frameo frame, set it up and add photos before you wrap it.

Check the Wi-Fi. Aura frames need Wi-Fi to work at all. If the recipient has no internet, pick a Frameo or the Skylight, which can show stored photos offline. The Carver and the 15.6-inch Frameo also need a 2.4 GHz network, which most home routers still offer.

Invite the family. A frame is only as good as the photos people send. Invite siblings, kids, and grandkids when you set it up, so new photos keep arriving.

Mind the shape and the cord. If most of your photos are vertical, pick a frame that turns to portrait or pairs portraits side by side. And every frame here plugs into the wall, so place it near an outlet.

Bottom line

For most people, the Aura Carver 10-Inch Digital Frame is the best digital picture frame: easy to set up, sharp, and about $149. Want a bigger frame for a side table? The Aura Aspen 12-Inch Digital Frame adds a 12-inch, 4:3 screen for about $229, and the Aura Walden 15-Inch Digital Frame is the one to hang on a wall. The Skylight Frame 2 (10-Inch) is the easiest touchscreen frame, and it keeps working offline. On a budget, the Frameo 10.1-Inch 32GB Digital Frame does the job for about $60, and the Frameo 15.6-Inch 64GB Digital Frame gets you a 15.6-inch screen for about $100.

Any of the six makes a thoughtful holiday gift, and it keeps getting better every time someone sends a new photo.
