It’s that time of year: pumpkins on the steps, leaves everywhere, and a black cat keeping watch by the door. These two porch scenes look identical at first glance, but somebody snuck around after dark and changed a few small things. Take your time, because some of these are tiny.
The puzzle
Picture B was copied from picture A, then changed in exactly 7 places. Nothing moved, so every difference is something that was recolored, switched off or taken away.

Three differences are on or near the door and the wall, three are around the rocking chair and the little side table, and one is on the cat. The pumpkins and the moon are a red herring.

Here are the 7 differences:
- Lantern: the wall lantern next to the door is switched off in picture B, so there’s no flame and no warm glow on the siding.
- Door knob: the round door knob is black in B instead of brass.
- Falling leaf: the little orange leaf drifting past the siding on the right, below the tree branch, is gone in B.
- Cushion: the rocking chair’s plaid cushion is green in B instead of blue.
- Mug: the mug on the side table has lost its white heart in B, and it’s filled to the top with coffee.
- Books: the top book in the stack is blue in B instead of green.
- Cat: the black cat’s eyes are green in B instead of yellow.
