Updated October 2026. Showtimes, prices, and seat notes were re-checked against Sphere and Ticketmaster on October 8, 2026.
The Wizard of Oz at Sphere is not a concert, so the usual “get as close as you can” rule does not apply. The picture wraps up, over, and around you, and you get the most out of it from a little height and a centered seat. This guide covers where to sit for the film, what the 4D effects feel like, which seats to skip, and what tickets cost. Going to a concert instead? See our guide to the best seats at Sphere for concerts.
The short answer: for The Wizard of Oz, the center of the 300 level (sections 305, 306, and 307, with 306 dead center) is the most-recommended spot. The center 400s (405–407) are the value pick and still show the whole screen. If your showtime sells 100-level seats, avoid rows 24 and back, where the overhang cuts off the top of the picture (RateYourSeats).

Is The Wizard of Oz at Sphere Still Playing?
Yes. As of October 8, 2026, the film runs every day, usually with two to four showtimes (on many days at 11 a.m., 2, 5, and 8 p.m.) listed on Ticketmaster. Sphere says tickets are on sale through the beginning of 2027 (Sphere Entertainment), and its VIP package terms run through May 31, 2027 (Sphere). It opened in August 2025 and has sold more than 4 million tickets (Pollstar).
- Run time: about 75 minutes (Sphere).
- Doors: open 45 minutes before showtime. Late seating is not allowed.
- Ages: intended for ages 6 and up, and everyone needs a ticket, whatever their age.
- Photos: fine in the atrium, but not during the film.
- No headset: there are no VR headsets, headphones, or glasses.
Best Sections for The Wizard of Oz at Sphere
| Level | Best sections | Why | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 | 305, 306, 307 | Centered and high enough to take in the whole wrap; 306 is the most centered | Steep stairs |
| 400 | 405, 406, 407 | Usually the cheapest seats, with a full floor-to-ceiling view | Steepest level; long escalator rides |
| 200 | 205, 206, 207 | Closer and lower; 206 holds VIP package seats | You look up more; center seats cost more |
| 100 | Rows 23 and closer | Closest seats, if your showtime sells them | Rows 24–37 are under the overhang |
Why the 300 level works best for a film
Section 306 sits in the middle of the 300 level and gives the most centered view in the building; sections 302–310 all have strong sightlines (RateYourSeats). Since there are no performers to watch, the extra height costs you nothing and helps you see the whole picture. Mid rows are a good compromise: you are not craning your neck, and you are not at the very top of a steep section.
The 400 level for value
The 400 level is the highest seating area and usually has the cheapest tickets. RateYourSeats calls it one of the best places to sit for immersive shows like The Wizard of Oz, because distance from a stage does not matter (RateYourSeats). The catch is the steep rake. Rows 1–10 enter from the 300-level concourse; higher rows take an escalator, which can back up after the show.
The 200 level and VIP packages
The 200 level is lower and closer to the screen. It has no significant overhang (RateYourSeats), but you look up more, which some people like and some find tiring. Sphere’s Good Witch and Wicked Witch VIP packages use select seats in sections 206 and 306, and The 1939 package (for select shows from October 20, 2026) uses select center suites with haptic seats (Sphere). If you only want the view, a regular seat in 205 or 207 is right next door.

The 4D Effects: Haptic Seats, Wind, Scent, and More
The film pairs the screen with physical effects. Sphere lists high-velocity wind, atmospheric fog, fire bursts, and infrasound haptic seats that vibrate with the soundtrack (Sphere). Its FAQ also warns of flashing lights, loud noises, falling and flying objects, pyrotechnics, bubbles, mist, and scent (Sphere).
On September 25, 2026, Sphere added new effects: animatronic Winged Monkeys, themed scents, “Glinda Glitter,” indoor pyrotechnic fireworks, and scented apples (Sphere Entertainment).
About 10,000 of Sphere’s 17,600 seats are built for haptics (Review-Journal). Sphere does not publish a section-by-section haptic map, so do not assume a pricier seat vibrates more.

If you would rather skip the haptics
Sphere offers non-haptic, alternative, and accessible seating through Ticketmaster or its Accessibility Services department. Sensory rooms on levels 2 and 6 are open during public events, subject to availability (Sphere). Sphere suggests checking with a doctor first if you are pregnant or have a condition the effects could aggravate.
Seats to Avoid for The Wizard of Oz

- The back of the 100 level: in rows 24 through 37, the 200 level above blocks a growing part of the upper screen (RateYourSeats). For a film that plays over your head, that is the biggest thing to avoid.
- Far-side sections: on the 300 level, sections 301 and 311 sit close to the side of the screen (RateYourSeats). The image can look skewed from the edges of any level.
- The very lowest rows: seats closest to the floor can mean looking up for long stretches. Mid-lower rows usually beat the absolute front.
- Steep upper rows if heights bother you: the 300 and 400 levels are steep. If that is a problem, stay in the 200s or lower 300s.
Sphere’s official venue maps help you match rows to sections before you buy.
How Much Are Wizard of Oz Tickets at Sphere?
Prices change by date and showtime. The Review-Journal reported tickets from $104 in December 2025. A July 2026 check by Las Vegas Jaunt found these starting prices:

- Sections 205 and 207: from $124
- Center 300s (305–307): from $134
- Section 206, with the Wicked Witch VIP package: from $314
Treat those as a rough guide and check your date on Ticketmaster or Sphere’s Wizard of Oz page. Service charges apply. You can buy up to 8 tickets per transaction and 25 per person in a calendar year.
Going to a Concert Instead?
Concerts change the math, because you also want to see the performers. Center 200s are usually the best balance there.
